The Alter Ego Effect - Todd Herman

In this short book, which could have been a lot shorter, Herman, a performance coach, suggests a simple hack - adopt an alter ego who embodies the attitudes and behaviours you need to emphasize in your "field of play" and use it to achieve beter performance when it matters. The idea itself sounds plausiblem and the book can serve as an important deviation from the now common advice to bring some elusive "authentic self" to every occasion. Or it can be read as an invitation to transform oneself into a narcissistic automaton.
